Feldenkrais   Awareness through Movement, Thursdays, 12 noon to 1pm

 

Back & Posture clinic   Wednesdays, 12:00 12:45 pm

 

Aqua Fit   Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:00 to 2.30 pm

 

 

II.      Workshops:  Contact us for dates and rates; specialty workshops are held throughout the year and/or upon request. Maximum 12 people for each workshop.

 

Bones Fit

Osteoporosis prevention and bone health workshop. This workshop teaches you about the essentials

of spinal alignment, strength training, balance, lifestyle and nutrition. The focus is on exercise

and how to progress your individual bone strength program. We will use bands, weights and balls.

Each participant receives the complete written manual - You Can Be in Charge of Your Bone Health.

This is a three part workshop; 2 hour long sessions.

 

Relax and De-stress

Movement, breath and self-awareness. This workshop is scheduled for two 1.5 hour long sections.

Feldenkrais based movements including breath exercises and relaxation techniques. Easy to learn exercises that anyone can do at home. Improves relaxation and sleep, reduces tension and overall sense of peace and well-being. Includes written manual for each participant.

 

Balance

Feeling off balance or unsteady on your feet? Lost some of your usual sense of steadiness and have a hard time standing on one leg? This workshop teaches you fundamental movement progressions that improve movement coordination and balance. You will gain more confidence and a greater sense of agility.

Three 1 hour long classes. Includes written exercise manual.

 

Back workshop

Learn essential back movements to unload your spine and move more powerfully from the center of your body. Only a well aligned spine can carry loads, push, pull and move in any direction without unnecessary tension. You will learn key stretches and a fundamental core strength protocol for your abdominals and back muscles. Walk tall again and enjoy greater comfort and agility. Discover the power of small movements! This workshop is scheduled for 2 hours.

Repetitive Strain Injuries

This workshop teaches the essentials of body alignment, unloading the upper back and neck, pelvis power and breathing essentials. We will use foam rollers and balls. Participants learn basic self mobilization techniques of the thoracic spine and stretches to free the shoulder-arm neck region.

Participants learn how to sit, bend, carry and lift without overuse. Two 2 hour long classes.

 

Strong Shoulders

Learn how to protect your shoulders from overuse such as impingement, rotator cuff injuries and

instability. This is for anyone who is involved with repetitive shoulder-arm movements such as tennis,

swimming, basketball, golfing or heavy lifting. You will learn key strength exercises and posture essentials. If you already experience recurrent shoulder pain from overuse, this class is for you! Make your shoulders move more efficient again! 2 hours.

 

Healthy Knees

Learn more than strength exercises for your knee health. You’ll learn how to unload unnecessary pressure in your knees, walking with more balanced weight distribution and proper alignment.

Plus, you will learn essential knee strength exercises. Two 1.5 hour long classes.

 

Posture Booster

Learn the most important aspects of a healthy posture: balanced spinal alignment, spinal agility and strength. This workshop is 2 hours long. Be prepared to feel taller and walk with greater ease. Each participant receives a resistance band and a written hand-out.

 

Becoming Whole Again After Breast Cancer

This workshop guides participants through a series of exercises and movements that are geared towards comfort, flexibility and body awareness. The exercises include Feldenkrais based movement series that assist the individual to gain confidence, free shoulder-arm-neck and back as well as breathe deeper and create a sense of wholeness. 1.5 hours. This workshop is free and offered monthly, beginning April 2009.

 

 

 

III.     One on one and small private groups

 

Personal Training For the Non-athlete and After Injury Recovery

We offer personal training with our over 20 years of physical therapy experience. Our expertise covers most musculo-skeletal conditions in the back, neck, shoulder-arms, hips, knees and ankles; as well as balance disorders, de-conditioning and chronic pain conditions. We guide you safely through a custom-tailored exercise regime and teach you how to safely progress your routine. Our sessions are in the gym, and/or private treatment rooms as well as in the pool if indicated.
